UB Volleyball Gets Right Back In Win Column With Road Sweep Over Roberts Wesleyan
UB Now 7-2 Overall And 2-0 In ECC Play
Rochester, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport made its longest road trip of the regular season a good one on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Knights got back into the win column with a 3-0 (29-27, 25-20, 25-22) sweep of East Coast Conference newcomer, the Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks. UB is now 7-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. RWC is now 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the ECC.
Sophomore Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) had a double-double for the Purple Knights in the win with 14 kills and 17 digs. She was joined in double-figure kills by classmate Ying Shen (Nanjing, China) with 12.
Sophomore setter Fernanda Silva (Brasilia, Brazil) directed the Purple Knights' offense with 30 assists.
Larissa Oliveira (Soph., Belo Horizonte, Brazil) was strong at the net on defense with six total blocks (one solo).
Libero Taylor McBeth (Sr., Langley, B.C., Canada) chipped in 11 digs for the winners.
The Bridgeport women's volleyball team is back in action on Tuesday night at Stonehill College for a non-conference clash. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. in Massachusetts.
