UB Sees Its Four-Match Winning Streak Snapped By The Chargers
West Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team saw its four-match winning streak snapped on Thursday night as the Purple Knights were swept in a non-conference contest at the University of New Haven, 25-18, 25-20, 25-11. The tilt was a rematch of the 2011 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball East Regional Final which UB won in four sets. With the loss, Bridgeport is now 6-2 overall. UNH raises its 2012 mark to 5-1.
Sophomore Ying Shen (Nanjing, China) led the Purple Knights in kills with nine on the night.
Senior libero Taylor McBeth (Langley, B.C., Canada) had a team-high 11 digs, and sophomore setter Fernanda Silva (Brasilia, Brazil) had 16 assists for UB.
Bridgeport and New Haven will meet again, this time in Hubbell Gym, on Thursday, October 11.
The Purple Knights are next in action this Saturday as they travel to Rochester, N.Y. to face East Coast Conference newcomer, Roberts Wesleyan College. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
