UB Volleyball Runs Winning Streak To Three With Sweep Of Queens (N.Y.)
Purple Knights Have Now Won Eight Of Last 10 Matches
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team picked up its third win a row and eighth victory in its last 10 matches with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-15) East Coast Conference home sweep over the Queens (N.Y.) College Knights on Thursday evening. UB is now 11-3 overall and 5-1 in the ECC. QC falls to 2-13 overall and 0-7 in conference action.
Freshman Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) smashed a match-high 17 kills to lead the Purple Knights on offense, and she notched a double-double with 10 digs.
Senior setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) had 30 assists on the night directing UB to the win.
Senior libero Carolina Lobato (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) recorded a match-leading 12 digs, and junior Taylor McBeth (Langley, B.C., Canada) also contributed 11 digs and six assists for the winners.
Bridgeport is right back in action on Friday night as the Purple Knights will look to run their winning streak to four as the team plays their its match in as many days when UB hosts American International College. Action gets underway in Hubbell Gym at 6:00 p.m.
