Volleyball Raises Record To 6-1 With Straight Sets Win Over Caldwell
Purple Knights Knock Off Previously Undefeated Cougars
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball raised its overall record to 6-1 on the season with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-23) home, non-conference win over the previously undefeated Caldwell College Cougars (9-1) on Saturday afternoon. The win also gives the Purple Knights a three-match winning streak heading into Tuesday night's East Coast Conference contest at Molloy College, and the team is undefeated at home, 5-0, so far in 2011.
Freshman Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) led UB with 20 kills on the afternoon.
Senior setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) notched a double-double with 31 assists and a match-leading 11 digs.
Senior Fernanda Costa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) also added 10 digs on defense for Bridgeport.
Caldwell's Susan McDonough led all players in the match with 14 kills on the day.
