Volleyball Raises ECC Record To 8-0 And Overall Mark To 18-2 With Straight Sets Home Win Over NYIT
Purple Knights Top Bears,25-22, 25-14, 25-17
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport volleyball stayed undefeated in East Coast Conference play at 8-0, and raised its overall season mark to 18-2 with a straight sets, 25-22, 25-14, 25-17 home win over the NYIT Bears on Thursday night. NYIT is now 14-9 overall and 4-3 in the ECC.
Senior Terry Masava (Nairobi, Kenya) led the Purple Knights offense with 15 kills on the night. Terry hit .556 for the match, as she did have an error in recorded those 15 kills on 32 total attacks. Terry was joined in double figure kills by graduate student Agatha Baliddawa-Mukisa (Jinja, Uganda), who had 14 kills for the winners.
Junior Fernanda Costa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) played an excellent all-around match for UB, as she had a team-high 19 digs, five kills and three block assists.
Setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) had 32 assists and 10 digs on Thursday night.
The Purple Knights are right back in action on Friday night, as they close out a three-match homestand with a 6:00 p.m. match versus Adelphi University. The Adelphi match is Bridgeport's final non-conference contest of the regular season.
