Volleyball Raises Season Record To 6-1 With Two Wins On Final Day Of Bentley Invitational
Purple Knights top Georgian Court and Stonehill. Kovacevic-Jurasin and Baliddawa earn spots on All-Tournament Team.
Waltham, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport
volleyball team raised its early season overall record to 6-1 with
two wins in two tries on the final day of the 2010 Bentley
University Invitational on Saturday. The Purple Knights
opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of the Georgian Court University
Lions, 25-18, 25-11, 25-9, and the team completed the day with a
3-1 (25-21, 25-15, 18-25, 25-23) triumph over Stonehill.
In the win over GCU, senior Ivana
Kovacevic-Jurasin (Belgrade, Serbia) led the team with
nine kills, and graduate student Agatha
Baliddawa (Jinja, Uganda) also added eight kills for
the winners. Later in the day, Kovacevic-Jurasin and
Baliddawa were named to the All-Tournament Team at the Bentley
Invitational for their outstanding play in UB's four matches.
Against, Stonehill, senior Terry Masava (Nairobi, Kenya) led the Purple Knights' offense with 18 kills. Kovacevic-Jurasin and Baliddawa also starred in the win over the Skyhawks, as they each added 17 kills.
UB returns to Hubbell Gym to open its 2010 home schedule on Friday night, September 17 when they host Pace University. Match time is 6:00 p.m.
