UB Indoor Track & Field Teams Spend Busy Weekend At Bucknell Bison Open Meet
UB Return To Action In Two Weeks At BU Valentine's Invitational
Lewisburg, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport indoor track and field teams wrapped up a busy weekend in Pennsylvania on Saturday, as the Purple Knights took part in the 30-team, Bucknell Bison Open, that featured competitors from all levels of intercollegiate athletics.
On the women's side for UB, freshman Emilia Russell (Kingston, U.K.) had an excellent weekend, as she took fifth place in the orange division of the pentathlon scoring 2695 points in the five events, as she took first place in the shot put (10.12m), third place in the long jump (4.81m), as well as taking fourth in the high jump, fifth in the 800m and ninth in the 60m hurdle.
Russell also finished sixth in the women's 500m race in a time of 1:27.72.
Junior Alexandra Toth (Sandy Hook, Conn.) finished seventh in the women's 1000m in a time of 3:33.79
On the men's side, Luke Downes (Sr., Johnson City, Tenn.) had another strong weekend of racing taking fourth place in the 500m race in a time of 1:12.72.
After taking a week off, the UB indoor track and field teams will next be in action at the BU Valentine's Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts on February 10 and 11.
