UB Swimmers Start Strong At 2019 Metro Conference Championships
Both Teams Sit In Fourth Place After Day One Of Three-Day Event
Piscataway, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport men's and women's swimming teams opened the 2019 Metropolitan Collegiate Conference with a strong showing on Friday evening as both squads sit in fourth place out of 18 teams after day one of the three-day event.
The Bridgeport women got the night off to a quick start by taking first place in the 200 Free Relay; while the men took fourth in the same event.
In the 500 Free, the Bridgeport men went 1-2, as junior Erik Hren (Maribor, Slovenia) took the top spot in a time of 4:28.52 and senior Brian Kelly (Mahwah, N.J.) grabbed second at 4:30.92.
In the women's 500 Free, freshman Diana Naglic (Muta, Slovenia) finished second and classmate Margo Koets (Minster-on-Sea, England) was fourth.
In the women's 50 free, Mariia Rezhylo (Kiev, Ukraine) finished first in a time of 23.66 and senior captain Nina Stegu (Ljublijana, Slovenia) took third in a time of 23.86.
