Bridgeport Swim Teams Each Take Third Place Finishes At 2014 TCNJ Invitational
Purple Knights Win A Total Of 24 Events Over The Three-Day Event
Ewing, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up the pre-Holiday portions of their 2014-15 schedules by winning a total of 24 events at the three-day 2014 College of New Jersey Lions Invitational which finished on Sunday evening. As a team, the UB men took third place out of five teams amassing 862 points to finish behind the host Lions (1093 points) and Rowan University (914 points), and the Bridgeport women also took third place out of six teams with 717 points. East Stroudsburg University topped the women's standings with 832 points, followed by Rowan with a total of 734 points.
For the Purple Knights' women, junior Tatiana Shepel (Moscow, Russia) won three individual events taking first places in the 50 Free (23.25), the 200 Free (1:53.01) and the 100 Free (50.64) Classmate Jaimy Lee Taskin (Noordwijkerhout, Holland) was a double winner taking firsts in the 100 Backstroke (58.16) and the 200 Backstroke (2:04.37).
Individually on the men's side, senior Ruben Gimenez (Burgos, Spain) earned two top finishes winning the 50 Free (20.41) and the 100 Free (44.52). Sophomore Antonio Nunez (Oviedo, Spain) was a double winner taking first place in the 400 IM (3:57.46) and the 200 Butterfly (1:48.55).
