Purple Knights Swimmers Win 17 Events At USMMA Invitational
UB Back In Action At TCNJ Invitational From December 5-7
Kings Point, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's and women's swimming teams had a strong showing at Saturday's 2014 United States Merchant Marine Academy Invitational, as the Purple Knights won a total of 17 of the 28 swimming events that took place on the day. No team scoring was kept at the meet.
Multiple individual winners for Bridgeport on Saturday were on the women's side, junior Jaimy Lee Taskin (Noordwijkerhout, Holland) took first place in three events winning the 200 IM (2:15.17), the 100 Back (1:11.15) and the 200 Back (2;10.96) and junior Sara Savovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was a double-winner taking first place in the 100 Free (56.43) and the 200 Free (1.59.68).
For the UB men, junior Didac Matsuyama (Barcelona, Spain) was a double-winner taking first in the 200 IM (1:56.87) and the 100 Back (52.85), and senior Vladislav Paskas (Zrenjanin, Serbia) took the 50 Free (21.50) and the 200 Free (1:42.45).
After taking a brief break for the Thanksgiving Holiday, the UB swim teams will be back in the pool at the College of New Jersey Invitational that will take place from December 5-7.
