Women's Swimming Bests Manhattan, 128-89
Senior Rozana Purcelea Wins Three Events.
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's swimming team raised its season dual meet record to 2-0 with a 128-89 win over the Manhattan College Jaspers in action that took place in the Wheeler Recreation Center natatorium on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Roxana Purcelea (Constanta, Romania) was triple event winning on Saturday for the Purple Knight women taking first place in the 100-meter Backstroke (1:10.06), the 100-meter Freestyle (1:00.24) and the 200-meter Breaststroke (2:55.83).
Three UB women's swimmers won two events on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Sonia Arau (Barcelona, Spain) set two school record and turned in two NCAA "B" cuts in winning the 400-meter IM (4:57.11-fastest time to date in NCAA Division II) and the 200-meter Backstroke (2:17.92-fastest time to date in NCAA Division II). Sophomore Noufissa Chbihi (North Haven, Conn.) won the 100-meter Butterfly (1:06.53) and the 200-meter Butterfly (2:26.43). Sophomore Anna Krasnowska (Kedzierzyn-Kozle, Poland) took first in the 200-meter Freestyle (2:13.748) and the 400-meter Freestyle (4:47.85). Arau, Chhihi, Krasnowska and graduate student Sarah Santos (Norwalk, Conn.) turned in the fastest time in the 400-meter Freestyler Relay at 4:12.05.
The next competitive meet for the Bridgeport women's team will be on November 20th when they swim at the USMMA Invitational in Kings Point, N.Y.
