Bridgeport, Conn- The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team won their second straight match of the season defeating the Southern Connecticut State University Owls at home on Sunday afternoon, 1-0, as part of the 2018 University of Bridgeport Women's Soccer Classic. The Purple Knights move to 2-0-0 on the season while SCSU is now 0-2-0.
With just under eight minutes left to play in the first half, junior Maegen Doyle (Harwich, England) found the back of the net off of a pass from classmate Elin Eklund (Gothenburg, Sweden) for the match's only tally. Doyle now has two goals on the young 2018 season.
Senior netminder Jennifer Wendelius (Lidingo, Sweden) made one save on the afternoon and to earn her second straight clean sheet of the season. Jennifer now has 23 career shutouts.
The Purple Knights outshot the Owls 16-5
The Bridgeport women's soccer team will now begin a string five consecutive matches away from the Park City. UB will begin the road trip heading to the state of Michigan, where the Purple Knights will face Ashland University on Friday at Grand Valley State and then take on the host Lakers on Sunday afternoon.
