Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team scored three goals in the first 16:11 of play led by two tallies from graduate student Amanda Moura (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), as the host Purple Knights posted a 3-1 non-conference win over the visiting Philadelphia University Rams on Wednesday night at Knights Field. The victory give UB a two-match winning streak, and the team is now 5-3-0 overall. The Rams fall to 3-4-1 for the 2016 season.
Moura opened the scoring on the night when knocked home a long blast off an assist from classmate Idoia Agirre (Legazpi, Spain) just 2:20 into play.
Agirre would score the next goal of the match, her fourth of season, off an assist from senior Hanne Neby (Furnes, Norway) at the 11:50 mark, and then Neby would connect with Moura, who notched her brace at 16:11 mark. Moura now has three goals so far this season, and Neby leads UB with four assists in 2016.
Philly's Mary Kate Ulmer got the rams on the scoreboard late in the second half with 10:58 remaining in the contest.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Wendelius (Lidingo, Sweden), the first of three Bridgeport netminders, earned the win making three saves and not allowing a goal during the first half.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team will host Assumption College on Monday, October 3. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. at Knights Field.
