Nic Worthington, Jess Laszlo And Julia Weidenmark Selected As 2015 NSCAA Division II All-Americas
Five Purple Knights Earn NSCAA All-East Recognition As Postseason Honors Continue To Pour In After Program’s Best Season In History
Bridgeport, Conn.-Two members of the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team that reached the NCAA Division II national Semifinals for the first team in program history have been recognized with 2015 All-America selections by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Junior midfielder Nicola Worthington (Chorley, England), this season's East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the year, has been named to the 2015 First Team NSCAA All-America team, plus freshman forward Jess Laszlo (Stamford, Conn.), the ECC Rookie of the Year and junior defender Julia Weidenmark (Varnamo, Sweden) earned Second Team NSCAA All-America accolades.
Worthington, Laszlo and Weidenmark were also two of five Purple Knights that were selected to the 2015 First Team NSACAA All-East Region Team, as they were joined by junior midfielder Flo Gamby (Goffs Oaks, England), and freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Wendelius (Lidingo, Sweden).
At this past weekend's NCAA Division II Women's Soccer national semifinals and finals held in Pensacola, Florida, Worthington and Laszlo earned spots on the 2015 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team.
