Former UB Women's Soccer Standout Katie Stanley Earns A Spot On Great Britain National Team At 2013 World University Games
2013 World University Games Will Take In Kazan, Russia From July 6-17
Bridgeport, Conn.-Former University of Bridgeport women's soccer standout Katie Stanley has been called up to the Great Britain Women's National Team for the 2013 World University Games that will take place in Kazan, Russia from July 6-17. Stanley, who is a current member of the Oxford United Ladies Football Club, will received her first international cap when she plays in two friendly matches during the final week of June for the Great Britain U-23 Team versus Sweden and Norway as part of the squad's preparation for the 2013 World University Games. Katie played at UB from 2008-2011 and completed her studies in the Park City following the Fall Semester of 2012.
During her stellar career in a Bridgeport uniform, she helped the Purple Knights make four consecutive NCAA Division II Championship Tournament appearances, plus she was a four-time All-East Conference selection and earned spots several All-Region and All-America teams.
Stanley played in 75 matches for UB during her four-year career amassing 76 career points on 25 goals and 26 assists.
