UB Women's Soccer Escapes With 1-0 Home Win Over St. Thomas Aquinas
Danielle Puddefoot Nets Her Fourth Game Winner Of 2012
Bridgeport, Conn.-Sophomore Danielle Puddefoot (Slough, England) scored the only goal of the match off a feed from freshman Gabby Reis (West Haven, Conn.) 9:05 into the second half of play to give the University of Bridgeport a 1-0 home East Coast Conference women's soccer win over the St. Thomas Aquinas College Lady Spartans on Wednesday afternoon. Puddefoot has now tallied four game-winning goals and leads the Purple Knights this season with 10 goals. UB has now won six matches in a row, and the team is unbeaten in seven outings as they raise their overall record to 6-3-1and remain unbeaten in the ECC at 4-0-0. All six of Bridgeport wins have been one-gaol victories so far this season. STAC is now 1-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play.
Bridgeport outshot the Lady Spartans, 19-5, on the day.
Sophomore goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) made one save to record her third clean sheet of 2012.
Up next for the UB women's soccer team is a key conference match at LIU Post on Saturday (October 6) at 12 noon. The Pioneers and the Purple Knights are currently tied for the lead in the conference standing as they each are 4-0-0 in the ECC.
