Danielle Puddefoot's Golden Goal Gives Bridgeport Women's Soccer A 1-0 OT Over Philadelphia University
Purple Knights Now Unbeaten In Five Consecutive Outings
Bridgeport, Conn.-Sophomore Danielle Puddefoot (Slough, England) scored the only goal of the match off an assist from senior Chelsea Green (Monmouthshire, Wales) with only 10 seconds play in the first overtime to give the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team a 1-0 non-conference win over the Philadelphia University Lady Rams on Wednesday night. Puddefoot's game-winning goal is her team-leading eight tally of the 2012 season. Wednesday's win give the UB women's soccer team a four-match winning streak, and the Purple Knights are now unbeaten in their last five contests. Bridgeport is now 4-3-1 overall, and Philadelphia U. falls to 5-4-0.
Wednesday night's match was also the fifth time in eight games that the Purple Knights have played extra time this season.
UB dominated the contest outshooting the Lady Rams, 16-4.
Junior goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) made two saves to record her second shutout of 2012.
Philadelphia keeper Kelli Kowalweski was outstanding between the pipes making 11 saves to keep her team in the game.
The Bridgeport women's soccer team is back in action at home on Saturday afternoon when they host Molloy College in an important East Coast Conference tilt. Game time at Knights Field is set for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
