Three Second Half Goals Lift UB Women's Soccer To First Win Of 2012
Purple Knights Win At Wilmington (Del.), 3-2
Newark, Del.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team notched its first win of the 2012 season, as the Purple Knights scored three second half goals and held off a late rally by the host Wilmington (Del.) University Wildcats to record a 3-2 victory.
Trailing 1-0 at the half, Bridgeport got second half goals from Julia Colley (Grad., Harlow, England) in the 49th minute, Danielle Puddefoot (So., Slough, England) in the 65th minute and Gillian Munro (So., Manchester, England) off a corner at the 71:20 mark. Puddefoot also recorded an assist on the day as did senior Asia Pulse (New Haven, Conn.).
The Wildcats would score just 30 seconds after Munro's tally but could not equalize the match.
Bridgeport is now 1-3-1 on the season; while Wilmington sees it record go to 2-3-1.
UB will close out its season-opening, six match road trip on Saturday afternoon (September 15) as the squad opens East Coast Conference play at NYIT. Game time on Long Island is set for 12 noon.
