Four UB Women's Soccer Players Named 2011 Daktronics Inc. All-Americans
Marie Pettersson And Julia Hansson Named To First Team; Kasey Kenny and Katie Stanley Named To Third Team
Bridgeport, Conn.-Four members of the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team, defender Marie Pettersson (Sr., Amal, Sweden), goalkeeper Julia Hansson (So., Tocksfors, Sweden), forward Kasey Kenny (Sr., Staten Island, N.Y.) and midfielder Katie Stanley (Sr., Oxford, England) have been selected as 2011 Daktronics Inc. All-Americans in voting conducted among sports information directors at NCAA Division II institutions that sponsor women's soccer at the Division II level throughout the nation. Pettersson and Hansson earned spots on the 2011 First Team Daktronics Inc. Women's Soccer All-America Team, and Kenny and Stanley were named as Third Team All-Americans,
Kenny and Pettersson, who were named East Coast Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year respectively, plus Hansson, who was selected as the ECC Goalkeeper of the Year, were earlier named to the First Team Daktronics Inc. All-East Region Squad along with Stanley.
The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team, which was ranked number one in the nation for six weeks during the regular season, made its fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament in 2011. The Purple Knights completed the season with a 16-0-2 overall record.
