Women's Soccer Heads Into 2011 NCAA Play At Number Three In The Nation
UB Opens NCAA Action At 12 Noon On Sunday At Knights Field
Bridgeport, Conn.-For the first time in six weeks, the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team is not ranked number one in the country in the national NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Tuesday afternoon. After playing to a 0-0 draw with Molloy College in the semifinals of the 2011 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament last Thursday night and not advancing on penalty kicks, UB is now ranked number three in the country behind two-time defending NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Champions Garand Valley State and California University of Pennsylvania. The Purple Knights, who are currently 16-0-1 on the season, hold on to the number one spot in the East Regional rankings for the ninth consecutive week.
This week, head coach Magnus Nilerud's team will open the 2011 NCAA Division II Championship Tournament on Sunday afternoon at home against either UMass Lowell or Dowling. Match time is set for 12 noon.
