Women's Soccer Picks Up 6-1 Road Win Over Post University
Prple Knights Score Three Times In Each Half To Cruise To Non-Conference Victory.
Waterbury, Conn.-Freshman Berglind Bjarnadottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) scored two goals and senior Ceri Harris (Bury St. Edmunds, Wales) netted what proved to be the game-winning goal as the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team posted a 6-1 non-conference road win over the Post University Eagles on Monday afternoon. With the victory, the Purple Knights are now 4-2-0 overall in 2010. Post remains winless at 0-8-0 so far this season,
The two goals by Bjarnadottir give her a team-leading total of four so far this year.
Also scoring for UB on Monday were junior Katie Stanley (Oxon, England) plus seniors Elin Svavarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) and Linda Velaj (Stamford, Conn.). Sophomore Asia Pulse (New Haven, Conn.) recorded the team's only assist in the win.
Junior Julia Colley (Harlow, England) picked up the win in goal for Bridgeport to even her season record at 1-1-0.
The Bridgeport women's soccer team returns to action at home this Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. when the Purple Knights host an ECC match versus Mercy College. Action gets underway at Knights Field at 3:00 p.m.
