Women's Soccer Fall In Overtime To Queens, 2-1
Queens Scores 7:30 Into OT To Notch Win
Bridgeport, Conn.-Queens
College's Lorena Russi scored 7:30 into the first
overtime period to lift the Knights to a 2-1 OT victory over the
host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in the East Coast
Conference women's soccer opener for both teams. QC is now
3-4-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play. Bridgeport is now
3-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in ECC action.
Queens got on the board first when they took a 1-0 lead on a UB own
goal at the 78:05 mark.
Bridgeport tied things at 1-1 and sent the match in overtime when junior Katie Stanley (Oxon, England) converted a penalty kick with just over two minutes to play in regulation. The goal is Stanley's second of the year.
Bridgeport is back in action on Monday afternoon, when the Purple Knights travel to Waterbury, Conn. for a non-conference contest against Post University. Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
