BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a perfect 3-0 record over spring break, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team earned a pair of CACC weekly awards on Monday. Senior Max McDermott was named the CACC Player of the Week while sophomore Tara Dimaio was selected as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
McDermott piloted a UB offense in road wins over Barton, Chowan, and Virginia State. She poured in 15 goals which is currently fourth in the CACC this season. McDermott also chipped in an assist and 10 ground balls across the three contests.
Dimaio was equally impressive for the Purple Knights last week. Defensively, the Long Island native finished with team highs in both ground balls (17) and caused turnovers (6). Offensively, she recorded 14 points off 10 goals and four assists.
Next up for the 3-0 Purple Knights is a road contest at Southern Connecticut State on Wednesday afternoon (4 p.m.).
