UB Wraps Up 2023 Women's Lacrosse Regular Season With A 22-10 Road Win Over Caldwell
Team Will Now Travel To Wilmington (Del.) To Open CACC Championship Tournament On Tuesday Afternoon
West Caldwell, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team closed out its 2023 regular season in fine style on a wet Saturday in New Jersey, as the Purple Knights netted a season-high in goals as they posted a 22-10 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over the host Caldwell University Cougars. With the win, UB completes the regular season at 6-8 overall and an even 5-5 in conference play. Caldwell closes out 2023 at 2-13 overall and 1-9 in the CACC.
Freshman Tara Dimaio (Shirley, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights in goal in the Garden State on Saturday with seven, and she added one assist for eight points.
Graduate student Andrea Basilicato Guilford, Conn.) totaled 11 points in the victory, as she four goals and seven helpers. Basilicato finished the regular season as UB's leading scorer with 58 points on 33 goals and 25 assists.
Danielle Kreitler (Grad., Shelton, Conn.) had five goals for the winners on Saturday, and senior Tereza Kreuzova (Prague, Czech Republic) had three goals and one assist against the Cougars.
UB also got single g(oals from three freshmen in Emily Stuart (Rising Sun, Md.), Molly Blackadar (Atkinson, N.H.) and Evelyn Edwards (Puyallup, Wash.).
Elizabeth Pitts (Fr., Raymond, N.H.) added two assists for Bridgeport in Saturday's win.
Sophomore Jacklyn Mellia (Nanuet, N.Y.) made five saves in net on the afternoon for the Purple Knights.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team heads into postseason play for the second time in school history, as the Purple Knights (the number six seed) will travel to Wilmington (Del.) University (the number three seed) on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. for the First Round of the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament.
