Women's Lacrosse Torches Post University With A Season-High 21 Goals In Wednesday's CACC Victory
Purple Knights Take Down The Eagles, 21-17, As Megan Kreitler Nets Nine Goals
Waterbury, Conn.-It was a huge day on offense for the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team on Wednesday, as the Purple Knights netted a season-best in goals to defeat the hosted Post University Eagles, 21-16, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest. With the victory, Bridgeport moves to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Post is now 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the CACC.
Megan Kreitler (Grad., Shelton, Conn.) led the UB goal scoring parade against the Eagles putting home an impressive nine goals on the afternoon.
Fellow graduate student Andrea Basilicato (Guilford, Conn.) did it all on offense for the winners with nine points of her own on four goals and five assists.
Senior Tereza Kreuzova (Prague, Czech Republic) amassed six points against Post with a pair of goals and four assists, and Danielle Kreitler (Grad., Shelton, Conn.) finished with a five-point day scored three goals and dishing off two assists.
Freshmen Tara Dimaio (Shirley, N.Y.) and Emily Stuart (Rising Sun, Md.) completed the UB goal scoring ledger, as Dimaio netted two goals and Stuart had one to go along with an assist.
Bridgeport goalkeeper Jacklyn Mellia (So., Nanuet, N.Y.) made 11 saves on the day to pick up win number five of 2023.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team will look to run its winning streak to three games, when the Purple Knights host a CACC contest against Wilmington (Del.) University on Tuesday afternoon at Knights Field. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
