Purple Knights Earn First ECC Women's Lacrosse Win Of 2022 With A 21-9 Triumph At UDC
Megan Kreitler Has A 10-Point Day Netting Nine Goals With One Assist For UB
Washington, D.C.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team picked up its first East Coast Conference win of 2022 on Friday afternoon, as the Purple Knights broke open a close 9-8 game at the half with 12 goals in the third and fourth quarters to post a 21-9 win in our Nation's Capital over the University of the District of Columbia. With the win, the Purple Knights are now 7-3 overall and 1-2 in the ECC. UDC remains winless at 0-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Friday's 21 goals mark the fifth time this season UB has eclipse the 20-goal mark in a single game.
On Friday, senior Megan Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) poured home nine goals to give a team-best 35 gals so far in 2022. She also added one assist to make it a 10-point day.
Classmate Jessica Kinser (Voorhees, N.J.) had five goals and one assist for six points for the winners.
Graduate student Andrea Bascilicato (Guilford, Conn.) continued her fine play this season in Friday's victory with two goals and a team-leading five assists for seven points.
Also scoring goals for the Purple Knights on Friday were seniors Danielle Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) and Addison Plume (Glen Arm, Md.), with two apiece, plus graduate student Courtney Hylok (Muskegon, Mich.) with one score. Hylok also had three helpers in the win.
Freshman goalkeeper Jacklyn Mellia (Nanuet, N.Y.) made 13 saves to pick up her seventh win of the season.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team will play its final game of 2022 next Saturday at 1:00 p.m., when the Purple Knights host the Molloy College Lions in ECC action at Knights Field.
