Bridgeport, Conn.-University of Bridgeport junior Rebecca Rieg (Long Valley, N.J.) scored the first goal of the evening just 34 seconds into play, but the visiting Dowling College Golden Lions would then score the next seven goals on their way to a 19-6 East Coast Conference women's lacrosse victory over the host Purple Knights on Saturday night at Knights Field. UB is now 4-6 overall and 0-4 in the ECC. Dowling ups its season mark to 10-1, and the Golden Lions are a perfect 4-0 in conference play.
Sophomore Abigail Benesh (Horseheads, N.Y.) led Bridgeport with two goals on the night. Along with Rieg, freshmen Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) and Alexis Malvaso (Jordan, N.Y.) and junior Kerry Mackinnon )Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), each had a goal for the Purple Knights. Freshman Isabella Theberge (Atkinson, N.H.) had UB's lone assist against Dowling.
