Eleven Different Players Notch Points As UB Women's Lacrosse Tops Post, 14-1
Purple Knights Now 2-4 On The Season
Bridgeport, Conn.-Eleven different players notched points on Wednesday afternoon, as the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing streak and picked up its first home win of the year with a 14-1 non-conference victory over the visiting Post University Eagles. UB is now 2-4 on the season, and Post remains winless at 0-7.
Bridgeport freshman Alexis Malvaso (Jordan, N.Y.) led her team in goals scored on the day with three. Classmate Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) finished with two goals and two assists on the day.
Senior Megan Hughes (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) and sophomore Abigail Benesh (Horesheads, N.Y.), each had two goals and one assist, and junior Kerry Mackinnon (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.), who plated the second half in goal, also scored twice for the winners.
UB got single tallies from freshman Amanda Fitzpatrick (New Hampton, N.Y.), junior Rebecca Rieg (Long Valley, N.J.) and senior Megan Carney (Norwalk, Conn.), who was seeing action away from her normal spot in the Bridgeport goal.
Along with Forry, freshman Isabella Theberge (Atkinson, N.H.) also had a pair of assists.
Up next, the Purple Knights will look to begin a winning streak on Monday afternoon when they host the Golden Falcons of Felician College at 3:00 p.m.
