Three Purple Knights Selected For Weekly ECC Spring Sports Awards
Baseball's Rodriguez, Softball' DiLorenzo And Women's Lacrosse's Forry Receive Conference Honors
Central Islip, N.Y.-Three University of Bridgeport spring sports student-athletes have receive East Coast Conference recognition for their outstanding play during contests that took place from March 7 through 13, 2016. From baseball, senior Alnaydo Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.) was named ECC Player of the Week. Softball's Jenna DiLorenzo (Fr., Woodbridge, Conn.) was selected as ECC Rookie of the Week, as was classmate Courtney Forry (Reiholds, Pa.) for women's lacrosse.
Rodriguez was a one-man wrecking crew at the plate for the Purple Knights this week compiling a .571 batting average (4-for-7) with and on-base percentage of .625 and a slugging percentage of 1.000. He drove in five runs, scored two and blasted a three-run homer during the week.
DiLorenzo got her UB career off to a hot start batting .545 in her first five games in a Purple Knights' uniform, going 6-for-11 at the plate. She also had three RBI, scored two runs, walked four times and stole a base. On the week, Jenna had a .667 on-base percentage helping her team to split their first six games of the 2016 season.
Forry continued her strong play to open her collegiate career, netting four goals and dishing off two assists in the Purple Knights' 13-4 win at Caldwell last week. Through the first two games of her Bridgeport career, Courtney is second on the team in scoring with five goals and two assists for seven points.
