UB Women's Lacrosse Downed In ECC Action By Molloy, 15-8
Junior Gabrielle Valela Becomes First Purple Knight To Reach 100 Career Goal Plateau Netting Three Goals On Saturday
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team suffered its third straight loss and the Purple Knights fell to 0-4 in East Coast Conference play, as UB fell to the visiting Molloy College Lions, 15-8, on a rainy Saturday afternoon in Bridgeport. With the loss, Bridgeport is now 1-9 overall. Molloy lifts its overall mark to 5-4, and the Lions are 2-1 in conference action.
Junior Gabrielle Valela (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led UB with three goals, as she became the first UB player in history to reach the 100 career goal mark. Graduate student Megan Doyle (Putnam, Valley, N.Y.) and sophomore Allie Wiggins (Waterford, Conn.) each had two goals and one assist for the Purple Knights, and freshman Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.) netted the team's other goal.
The UB women's lacrosse team will look to get back in the win column next Saturday when they travel to Mercy College of an ECC match-up. Acton is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
