Women's Lacrosse Suffers Another One-Goal Loss Dropping A 14-13 ECC Decision To Roberts Wesleyan In Overtime
Purple Knights Have Lost Four Times In Six Games By Only One Goal
Bridgeport, Conn.-The tough luck so far in 2014 continued for the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team, as the Purple Knights suffered their fourth one-goal loss in six game falling 14-13 in overtime to Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks in an East Coast Conference game played in Bridgeport on Saturday afternoon. UB is now 0-6 overall and 0-3 in ECC play. RWC ups its record to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in conference action.
Alison Kendall scored the game-winning goal for the Redhawks with one minute to play in overtime after Bridgeport's Emily Catalano (Jr., N. Babylon, N.Y.) sent the game to overtime tied at 13-13 with a free position goal with only 13 second to play in regulation.
Sophomore Allie Wiggins (Waterford, Conn.) led UB in scoring with four goals on the day, and freshman Katlyn Dempsey (Elmont, N.Y.) chipped in three goals for the Purple Knights.
UB goalkeeper Megan Carney (So, Norwalk, Conn.) made 12 saves on the afternoon.
The Bridgeport women's lacrosse team is next in action on Tuesday afternoon at Chestnut Hill. Action is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
