Bridgeport Takes Fifth Women's Lacrosse Win Of 2013 As Purple Knights Top AIC, 13-8
Freshman Allie Wiggins Leads UB Offense With Five Goals And One Assist
Bridgeport, Conn.-Freshman Allie Wiggins (Waterford, Conn.) scored a game-high five goals and added one assist to lead the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team a 13-8 home non-conference win over the American International College Yellow Jackets. With the win, UB is now 5-6 overall and 4-2 at Knights Field. AIC slips to 1-13 in 2013.
Sophomore Gabrielle Valela (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) netted five goals for the winners, and classmate Shealyn Scully (Huntington, N.Y.) scored two goals and had three assists on the day.
Also scoring goals for the Purple Knights were junior Nichole Rogers (Dallas, Texas) and sophomore Emily Catalano (N. Babylon, N.Y.).
Marissa Gambardella (Grad. Student, West Haven, Conn.) was strong in net for Bridgeport making 11 saves on the afternoon.
The UB women's lacrosse team is back in action on Tuesday afternoon (April 23) when they host Chestnut Hill College at 3:00 p.m.
