Women's Lacrosse Falls To Queens (N.Y.), 11-5, In 2013 ECC Opener
UB Now 3-2 Overall And 0-1 In Conference Action
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team opened its 2013 East Coast Conference schedule at home on Wednesday night, and the Purple Knights dropped an 11-5 decision to the vesting Queens (N.Y.) College Knights. UB is now 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the ECC. Queens evens its season mark at 3-3 and is 0-1 in conference play.
Sophomore Alexia Costa (Providence, R.I.) led Bridgeport with two goals and one assist, and junior Charity Holt (Baldwin, N.Y.) plus sophomores Katie King (Paxton, Mass.) and Gabrielle Valela (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), each netted one goal for the Purple Knights.
Freshman Megan Carney (Norwalk, Conn.) played well in goal for Bridgeport coming off the bench, as she did not allow a goal and made four saves playing the final 19:05 of the contest.
The UB women's lacrosse team is back in action on Friday afternoon (March 22), when it hosts Lake Erie College in a non-conference game. Action begins at 4:00 p.m.
