Women's Lacrosse Suffers First Loss Of 2013
Southern New Hampshire Tops UB. 16-5
Manchester, N.H.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse suffered its first loss of the 2013 season a rainy Tuesday afternoon in Manchester, New Hampshire, as the Purple Knights dropped a 16-5 decision to host Southern New Hampshire University Penmen. UB is 2-1 on the young season, and SNHU is 1-3 overall.
Bridgeport got single goals from Shealyn Scully (So., Huntington, N.Y.), Allie Wiggins (Waterford, Conn.), Katie King (So., Paxton, Mass.), Emily Catalano (So., N. Babylon, N.Y.) plus Gabrielle Valela (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) on Tuesday. Scully and Valela also had one assist on the afternoon to tally two points apiece.
Graduate student Marissa Gambardella (West Haven, Conn.) made 14 saves in goal for UB in the game.
The Purple Knights are back in action on the lacrosse field this Friday afternoon, March 15 when they host Post University. Game time at Knights Field is set for 3:00 p.m.
