Women's Lacrosse Set To Welcome Five Freshmen For 2011-12 School Year
Student-Athletes Will Join UB's Second-Year Varsity Program
Bridgeport, Conn.-University of Bridgeport head women's lacrosse coach Kate Backman announced today that five student-athletics will join the Purple Knights as freshmen for the 2012 season.
"I'm excited to have all these ladies join our program," said Backman. "Entering our second year at the varsity level, they will be important building blocks to our future success."
Joining the UB women's lacrosse program for the 2011-12 school year are:
Emily Catalano-North Babylon, N.Y. (North Babylon High School)
Alexia Costa-Providence, R.I. (Classical High School) Costa earned First Team All-Division honors in 2011 and also played field hockey and basketball at Classical.
Katherine King-Paxton, Mass. (Wachusett Regional High School) King was an All-Star performer at Wachusett Regional High School where she was the team captain and leading scorer.
Shealyn Scully-Huntington, N.Y. (Huntington High School) Scully captained her high school team and also played soccer and basketball.
Gabrielle Valela-Lindenhurst, N.Y. (Lindenhurst Senior High School) Valela was a team captain and 2011 All-Division selection in high school where she also played soccer and basketball.
