Women's Lacrosse Returns Home But Remains Winless After Loss To ECC Foe Queens
QC Takes Battle Of The Knights, 24-3
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team remained winless in its first season of play, as the Purple Knights lost a 24-3 East Coast Conference home decision to the Queens (N.Y.) College Knights on Tuesday evening. UB is now 0-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play. Queens ups its overall mark to 8-7, and QC is now 2-4 in the ECC.
The Purple Knights held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in the game on goals by sophomore Jennavie Orrell (Gloucester, Mass.) which were both assisted by freshman Colleen Pruesse (Danbury, Conn.). Orrell leads Bridgeport is scoring with 18 goals so far in 2011.
Colleen Pruesse scored UB's other goal in the contest off an assist from graduate student Melanie Fernandes (Southbury, Conn.).
Bridgeport freshman goalie Victoria Harrison (Massapequa, N.Y.) made 16 saves on the night.
Bridgeport is next scheduled to be in action at St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday night, April 30th. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
