Gymnastics Has Six Earn 11 All-GEC Awards
Sophomore Abigail Kenney led the way for the Purple Knights with four All-GEC nods.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Three days ahead of the conference championship meet, the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics squad had six different student-athletes earn a total of 11 All-GEC honors on Wednesday. Places on the All-GEC Squads are determined by NQS per event. First Team is the top six scores including ties. Second Team is the next six scores including ties.
Sophomore Abigail Kenney led the way for UB with four All-GEC nods, including first-team recognition in all-around with an NQS score of 38.885. Showing off her sensational versatility, she also put together second-team honors on vault (9.755), beam (9.755), and floor (9.805).
Fellow sophomore Lola Sepulveda joined Kenney as a first-team All-Around selection with an NQS score of 38.925. She also earned first-team recognition on floor and second team on vault with respective NQS' of 9.830 and 9.775.
Following Kenney and Sepulveda, it was a pair of freshmen joining in with first-team accolades. Nova Staruk was honored for her performance on vault (9.810) while Emily Hernandez was recognized on bars (9.805).
UB's All-GEC selections were rounded out by Hannah Barry and Olivia Imbarlina, who were each sensational on beam this season. Barry finished with an NQS of 9.765 while Imbarlina posted a mark of 9.745.
