Kimberly Stewart And Maya Reimers Earn Weekly ECAC Women's Gymnastics Awards
Duo Recognized For Their Top Performances At The Penn Quad Meet on March 5th
Danbury, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team continues to amass an impressive amount of weekly Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II awards during the 2017 season, as two more Purple Knights were recognized this week, as senior Kimberly Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) was named Specialist of the Week, and freshman Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) earned ECAC Rookie of the Week honors for their outstanding performances in action that took place from February 27 through March 5, 2017.
Stewart scored a 9.875 on vault in Bridgeport's meet with West Chester, Penn State University and the University of Pennsylvania on Sunday. The senior tied for first place with teammate Maya Reimers in the event. Stewart also registered a 9.725 in the floor exercise.
Reimers had another strong showing in the all-around for UB last weekend, totaling 38.925 to finish fifth overall in a meet featuring competitors from multiple Division I schools. The freshman finished tied for first in the vault (9.875), and also scored 9.875 in the floor exercise to finish fourth in the event.
Up next, the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team will host a quad meet in the Wheeler Recreation Center with Brown, Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before traveling for a meet at Arizona State University on Friday evening.
