Purple Knights Rally In Last Rotation To Post Narrow Women's Gymnastics Home Victory Over Air Force
UB Tops The Falcons on Senior Day, 194.275-193.965
Bridgeport, Conn.-Trailing the visiting Air Force Falcons, 146.625-145.350, heading into the final rotation of Sunday's dual NCAA women's gymnastics meet, the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights posted a team score of 48.925 in the floor exercise to comeback win the meet by a score of 194.275-193.965.
The Purple Knights finished 1-2-3 in the floor exercise as freshman Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.), who won Sunday's All-Around competition with a score of 38.900 in the four events, won the floor with a score of 9.850, senior Kimberly Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) was second with a score of 9.825 and senior Randi Cutolo (S. Jordan, Utah) tied for third at 9.800.
Along with the 48.925 in the floor exercise, UB tailed 48.325 on the vault, 48.50 on the bars and 48.675 on the balance beam.
Reimers also tied first place in the vault (9.775) and the balance beam (9.775). UB senior Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) tied for second on the beam with a score of 9.750.
Junior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.), who placed second in the All-Around on Sunday. Took first place in the bars with a score of 9.850, and sophomore Thomara Powell-Brown (Rocky Hill, Conn.) place second behind Campbell in the event with a score of 9.775.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team returns to Philadelphia, Pa. for a quad-meet hosted by Penn on Sunday, March 5th. The meet, which will feature UB, Penn, Penn State and West Chester, will begin at 4:30 p.m.
