Bridgeport Opens Busy Weekend Of Women's Gymnastics Action With Second Place Finish At Don Tonry Memorial Invitational
Purple Knights Right Back In Action On Sunday At Home Versus Cornell
New Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport opened a busy weekend of women's gymnastics action with a second place finish in the four-team, Don Tonry Memorial Invitational hosted by Yale University on Saturday afternoon. As a team, the Purple Knights totaled a score of 193.650, their second highest total of the 2016 season. The University of New Hampshire took first place on Saturday with a score of 195.800. Yale took third place with a score of 191.875, and Southern Connecticut State was fourth with a total of 187.875 points.
As a team, Bridgeport scored 48.470 on the vault, 48.150 in the floor exercise, 48.375 on the balance beam and 48.650 on the bars.
Top finishers in each event for the Purple Knights were junior Hope Tralli (Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y.) on the vault with a score of 9.775, senior Randi Cutolo (S. Joran, Utah) in the floor exercise with a score of 9.800, junior Christine Liautaud (Cary, Ill.) on the bars with a score of 9.825, and sophomore Carol Chiles (Fairfield, Calif.) posted a personal best on the beam with a score of 9.825.
Sophomore Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) competed in the all-around for the Purple Knights, and she total a score of 38.650 in the four events on the day.
The UB women's gymnastics team is right back in action tomorrow, Sunday afternoon when they host the Big Red of Cornell University in a dual meet in the Wheeler Recreation Center. The meet is slated to begin in the Park City at 2:00 p.m.
