For The Second Straight Week UB Gymnastics Posts Season-High Team Score To Win West Chester Quad Meet
Purple Knights Win Event With Team Score of 194.125
West Chester, Pa.-For the second consecutive week, the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team posted a season-best team score to win a quad meet. This week, the Purple Knights totaled 194.125 points to take first place ahead of second place and host West Chester University (191.825 points), third place Ursinus (190.325) and fourth place Rhode Island College (173.400).
The Purple Knights won all four events at West Chester taking the vault with 48.550 points, the bars with 48.600 points, the beam with 48.250 points and the floor exercise with a score of 48.725.
Three UB gymnasts won individual events on Saturday, as sophomore Amber Hill (Windsor Locks, Conn.) won the bars with a career-best score of 9.850, classmate Rachel DiCarlo (Harleysville, Pa.) took first on the balance beam with a personal best score of 9.850, and senior Sasha Tsikhanovich (Marysville, Ohio) captured the floor exercise with a score of 9.875. Tsikhanovich took second in Saturday's all-around competition with a total of 38.750 in the four events.
Senior Caitlin Perry (N. Kingston, R.I.) took second place just behind Tsikhanovich in the floor exercise with a score of 9.825.
In the only event the Purple Knights did not take an individual first place, the vault, Bridgeport had a 2-3-4 finish, as sophomore Hope Tralli (Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y.) took second with a score of 9.775, classmate Kimberly Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) was third with a score of 9.750 and freshman Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) took fourth place with a score of 9.725.
Next on the schedule for the UB women's gymnastics team is a trip to Philadelphia, Pa. for a quad meet on Saturday, February 14 hosted by Temple University with West Chester and Penn also competing. The following day, Sunday, February 15, the Purple Knights will travel to Brown University for a quad meet featuring the host Bears, Southern Connecticut State and the University of New Hampshire.
