UB Women Start Fast But Fall To ECC Leader St. Thomas Aquinas

Bridgeport, Conn.- It was a strong start for the University of Bridgeport women's team, who lead 22-14 after the first quarter, but from there on the host Purple Knight could not keep up with the East Coast Conference-leading St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans who posted a 65-47 victory on a frigid Saturday afternoon in Hubbell Gym. Bridgeport is now 5-11 overall and 2-4 in conference play. STAC is now 13-1 overall and moves to a perfect 5-0 on the ECC.
Sophomore Briana Stoddart (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights in scoring on Saturday with nine points. Stoddart also brought down four boards and shot 2-for-4 from the three-point line. Junior Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) was second in scoring with eight points. She was 4-for-5 on the day, adding an assist and an offensive rebound.
Senior Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) put up some impressive defensive numbers in the contest. Caution led the team with eight rebounds, four blocks, and two steals. She also dished out three assists on offense. Kadijah Dickson (So.,Queens, N.Y.) also made her presence felt, scoring seven points while dishing out five assists. Dickson also held her own on the defensive end adding two steals, two blocks and five rebounds.
The UB women's basketball team will look to get back in the win column in its next conference game on Wednesday when they travel to Molloy College Lions in an ECC matchup. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
