Purple Knights See Women's Basketball Winning Streak Snapped At Seven By Daemen
UB Falls To Wildcats, 72-68
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, as the host Purple Knights fell to the visiting Daemen College Wildcats, 72-86, in East Coast Conference action. UB is now 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the ECC; while Daemen ups its overall record to 3-5, and the Wildcats are 1-2 in conference play.
Daemen turned defense into offense on Saturday converting 17 UB turnovers into 25 points which proved to be the difference in the game.
Bridgeport junior Aurelie Leblanc-Florent (Longueuil, Quebec, Canada) led three players in double-figure scoring for her team with 18 points. Joining Leblanc-Florent in double figures were sophomore Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) and senior Camera Miley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 10 points apiece.
Vonleh also finished with six rebounds and added her career block number 100 during the contest.
Junior Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) led the Purple Knights in rebounding grabbin eight boards.
Daemen's Leah McDonell had the game-high of 22 points.
The UB women's basketball team is back in action at home on Tuesday evening when they host a non-conference game versus Pace University. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
