BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In the final two games of the regular season, the University of Bridgeport's softball team (24-20, 17-5 CACC) tallied a pair of run-rule wins over Bentley on Wednesday. The Purple Knights finished with victories of 13-0 and 13-1 in nine total innings of action.
GAME ONE – Bridgeport 13, Bentley 0 (Five Innings)
The Purple Knights recorded three separate innings of four-run outbursts, including the second, third and fourth frames. All in all, they finished with 11 total hits and eight walks.
Madison D'Amato put forth her best game of the year with a 4-for-4, four-run, four-RBI performance. She hammered RBI singles in the second, third and fourth innings.
Mya Jones, meanwhile, launched her fourth home run of the season in the second. Jones' three-run bomb provided UB with a 5-0 lead.
Besides Jones' home run, Meg McFarland supplied Bridgeport's other extra-base hit courtesy of an RBI triple in the third. McFarland is now leading the team in batting average this season (.366).
