Softball Drops Two One-Run Games at Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – In the first of two road conference doubleheaders this week, the University of Bridgeport's softball team dropped a pair of one-run contests at Bloomfield on Tuesday. The Purple Knights are now 15-5 in the CACC this season.
GAME ONE – Bloomfield 3, Bridgeport 2
It was a walk-off victory for the Bears in the opener.
With UB down to its final out, freshman Sydnee Perreault hammered her first career home run to tie the game at 2-2. Bloomfield would score the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Bridgeport's first run of the game was also a solo home run off the bat of Samantha Schiebe. Schiebe went yard in the fourth to cut the Bloomfield lead to 2-1.
Collectively, the Purple Knights mustered just three hits and three walks on offense.
Kaite Burawski served as the hard-luck loser for UB. The left-hander allowed just three runs on five hits across 6.1 innings. She finished with eight strikeouts.
GAME TWO – Bloomfield 6, Bridgeport 5 (Nine Innings)
It was another walk-off win for the Bears in the second game of the day. Bloomfield battled back from a 5-3 deficit in extras to finally secure victory in the bottom of the ninth.
Madison D'Amato led the Bridgeport offense in the second game. The junior went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a walk.
Angela Oros knocked in both of UB's first two runs with a double in the third and a sac fly in the fifth.
Mya Jones also produced a run courtesy of an RBI single in the fifth that scored D'Amato.
Vise Zarate pitched all 8.1 innings for the Purple and White. She allowed six earned runs and only walked two.
