UB Softball Set To Open NCAA Play In New Hampshire Versus Adelphi On Wednesday Afternoon
Sixth-Seeded Purple Knights Will Face Third-Seeded Panthers At 1:30 PM On The Campus Of St. Anselm College
Indianapolis, Indiana-The University of Bridgeport softball team will begin 2021 NCAA Division II Championship play on Wednesday, May 19 as the number six seed Purple Knights 22-7) will travel to Manchester, N.H. to face third-seeded, Adelphi University (27-8), in the second game of the day in the six-team, NCAA East Regional bracket hosted by St. Anselm College. The back-to-back champions of the East Coast Conference and the Northeast-10 Conference runners-up will face off at 1:30 p.m. following the opening game of the double-elimination tournament that will feature number four seed, Molloy College (29-14) facing number five seed, the University of New Haven (27-7) at 11:00 a.m. Top-seeded Georgian Court University (35-4) and second-seed and host St. Anselm College (29-4) will open play on Thursday in the regional.
The winners from each of the eight regionals will advance to the 2021 Division II Softball Championship which will be held at the Regency Athletic Complex in Denver, Colorado from May 27-31.
This trip to the NCAAs will be the fourth in the history of Bridgeport softball, as UB's previous NCAA appearances came in 1988, 1989 and 2019.
UB won its second straight East Coast Conference softball title on Saturday, when the Purple Knights defeated St. Thomas Aquinas College, 5-4, to sweep the best-of-three ECC Final Series. Bridgeport captured the first regular season ECC title in program history in 2021, and opened this year's postseason with a 2-1 series win over the Mercy College Mavericks in the East Coast Conference semifinals the previous weekend.
East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year and ECC Championship Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Kaite Burawski (Hartley, Del.) leads the Purple Knights into the 2021 NCAA East Regional with a 15-3 record and a 0.91 earned run average. Burwaski has struck out 179 batters in 130.1 innings pitched with only 38 walks, and she has limited the opposition to a .175 batting average against.
East Coast Conference Player of the Year, outfielder Kaira Ramon (Sr., Stamford, Conn.) leads UB with a .417 batting average, and Second Team All-ECC catcher, sophomore Taylor Yates (Elk Grove, Calf.) leads the team with five home runs plus 26 runs batted in plus has a .378 batting average.

In order to provide student-athletes, coaches, and NCAA staff the safest possible experience, ticket policies for the 2021 NCAA Division II Softball East Regional Championship have been modified.
Each participating institution will be allotted a limited number of all-championship passes. These passes will be distributed by respective institutional personnel. Fans are permitted to attend ONLY the games in which their institution participates. All spectator areas will be cleared at the conclusion of each game.
NOTE - No tickets will be sold at the championship site, and only spectators who have been provided passes through respective team allotments will be permitted.
