Bridgeport, Conn-Freshman Kamryn Beach (Tampa. Fla.) had a walk-off single with one-out in the bottom of the seventh inning of game two to lift the University of Bridgeport softball team to 3-2 win over the visiting Queens (N.Y.) College Knights and a split of the teams' East Coast Conference doubleheader. QC won game one, 5-3. With the split, UB is now 12-22 overall and 6-12 in conference play. Queens now stands at 10-17 overall and 7-11 in the ECC.
Beach's hit made a winner of junior Kaitlyn Lajoie (Vernon, Conn.), who is now 5-8 on the season after firing a complete game, six-hitter, in which she allowed two runs with two strikeouts and two walks.
UB junior Meghan O'Leary (Lafayette, N.J.) had two hits with one RBI, as did Beach in the nightcap.
In game one, seniors Kaila Crandall (Little Rock, Calif.) and Paige Owens (Berlin, Conn.), each had two hits, and Owens drove in two runs.
Up next, the UB softball team will host Goldey-Beacom College in a non-confernce doubleheader on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in Seaside Park.
