Clermont, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport softball is now 2-2 on the young 2015 season after splitting a pair of contests on day two of their annual Spring Trip to Florida. In Friday's opener, the Purple Knights tried to rally from being down 6-2 to the Bentley University Falcons but fell just short losing, 6-5. In Friday's second game, UB came back from being down 5-0 to score 10 unanswered runs to take a 10-5 victory over American International College.
Against AIC, junior Brittney Maio (Guilford, Conn.) knocked in the tying run, and sophomore Ashley Hessler (Pawtucket, R.I.) blasted a three-run homer. Junior Kaila Crandall (Little Rock, Calif.) earned the win in the pitching circle to even her record at 1-1 with some stellar shutout relief.
On Saturday, the UB softball team will face Stonehill and Pace in the Sunshine State.
