Softball Splits Non-Conference Doubleheader At Post University
UB Wins Game Win, 5-3, And Falls In Game Two, 6-4
Waterbury, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport softball team split its third straight doubleheader on Monday afternoon as the team travel to Waterbury, Connecticut to face the Eagles of Post University in non-conference action. UB took game one, 5-3, and Post came back to gain a split with a 6-4 victory in game two. The Purple Knights are now 11-16 overall, and Post is now 12-18 for the 2013 season.
In the opener, UB sophomore Jessica Griesinger (Brewster, N.Y.) had three hits and scored two runs. Senior Stephanie Pearce (Surrey, England) drove in two runs and had a pair of hits including a double. Sophomore Katelyn Wall (Madison, Conn.) and Jade Blair (West Deptford, N.J.) each had two hits and drove in one run for the winners.
Freshman Jennine Walsh (Langley, B.C., Canada) picked up her team-leading sixth win of the season in the pitching circle, as she went the distance.
In the nightcap, Bridgeport was limited to only four hits for the game. Sophomore Jessica Griesinger drove in two runs, and sophomore Morgan Dunn (Cohoes, N.Y.) had UB's other run batted in.
The Bridgeport softball team returns to East Coast Conference play, as they host Molloy College. Game time at DeLuca Field in Stratford is set for 3:00 p.m.
