Purple Knights Swept In ECC Softball Opener By Queens

Flushing, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team opened its 2010 East Coast Conference schedule on Saturday at Queens (N.Y.) College, and the Purple Knights were swept by QC, losing game one, 8-2, and falling in game two, 8-0, in a contest that was called after five innings. Bridgeport is now 5-11 overall (0-2 ECC). Queens ups its overall record to 9-7, and the Knights are 2-0 in conference play.
In game one, sophomore Taylor McBeth (Langley, BC, Canada) slammed a solo home run, and freshman Chloe Shill (Miami, Fla.) had two hits and drove in the Purple Knights' other run.
Bridgeport is next scheduled to be in action this Tuesday, March 29th, when UB hosts Molloy College in ECC action. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
